Quantum direct communication was originally proposed by the team of Long Guilu from Tsinghua University. It uses quantum states to achieve secure communication. It has five major characteristics: eavesdropping perception, eavesdropping prevention, compatibility with existing networks, simplified management processes, and covert transmission. It provides a new solution to ensure the security of information transmission. How to use quantum states with extremely low energy and easy interference to achieve safe and reliable communication in quantum channels with high noise, high loss, and eavesdropping risks has always been a core problem that needs to be overcome in this field. In this study, the research team used the same set of optical quantum states to simultaneously achieve secure information transmission and key negotiation, successfully solved the technical difficulties of quantum direct communication, and completed the development of practical communication terminals. Compared with the system in 2022, the rate has increased by 4760 times, greatly improving the performance of quantum direct communication. "This research result has opened a new journey for the practical construction of quantum direct communication. In the future, quantum direct communication systems are expected to be widely used in government affairs, finance, and other fields with extremely high information security requirements, and effectively enhance communication security." Long Guilu said.
