Fiber fusion splicers are mainly used in optical communications, construction and maintenance of optical cables. It mainly relies on releasing arcs to melt the two ends of the optical fiber, and at the same time uses the collimation principle to smoothly advance to achieve the coupling of the fiber mode field.

Fault phenomenon: When the fiber fusion splicer is turned on, the screen is not bright, and the light inside the windshield is not on (the machine does not respond).

Fault cause: ①The power socket is not plugged in properly or the power converter is broken; ②The power switch has poor contact; ③The power fuse is disconnected; ④Short circuit or fault occurs inside the machine; ⑤The battery voltage is insufficient or the polarity is reversed.

Solution: Check whether the power fuse of the fiber fusion splicer is disconnected. If it is disconnected, replace the fuse (8A for fiber fusion splicer and 3A for power converter), and confirm that the power output voltage is about 12-13V. Check whether the battery polarity is reversed, and then restart the machine. If the problem is still not solved, return it to the manufacturer for repair.

Fault phenomenon: After the fiber fusion splicer is turned on, it displays "system reset" every time, but the reset cannot stop.

Fault cause: ① There is a problem with the photoelectric switch of the fiber fusion splicer or the induction column on the cam shaft has fallen off; ② There is a problem with the motor or motor drive.

Solution: Loosen the two hexagonal bolts on the head cover and remove the head cover. If the induction column has fallen off, reinsert it into the hole on the side of the cam shaft and glue it with 502 glue. If the large pressure plate drives the photoelectric switch baffle, clamp the baffle with tweezers, gently turn it and test whether it resets and stops. If the reset is controlled by the travel switch, clean the dirt in the switch. If the problem still cannot be solved, return it to the manufacturer for repair.

Fault phenomenon: After placing the optical fiber, when pressing the "auto" button of the fiber fusion splicer to set the gap, the fiber image cannot be seen after the screen is switched and the screen becomes dark, and finally "reinstall fiber" is displayed.

Causes of the failure: ① The windshield is not pressed into place or the spring sheet is not in good contact; ② The light on the windshield is not on or the conductive column connection line below is off; ③ The corresponding CCD is broken or off (there is a problem with the shutter of the camera itself).

Solution: Use tweezers to clamp the two contact spring sheets at the rear end of the windshield, and then lift it slightly to make it in good contact. If the problem still cannot be solved, return it to the manufacturer for repair.

Failure phenomenon: The fiber fusion machine always shows that the left end face of the fiber is bad for a while, and the right end face of the fiber is bad for a while.

Causes of the failure: ① The value of "end face setting" in the menu is small; ② There are gray and dark spots on the microscope lens and the two lighting lamps or prisms; ③ The corresponding bottom lighting lamp is not on; ④ There is dust in the V-groove, or the fiber is not properly inserted into the groove and the image is blurry.

Solution: Enter the menu and increase the value of "end face setting". Wipe the lens, wipe the corresponding lighting lamp and check whether the lamp is normal, clean the V-groove and try again. Sometimes you can also connect by re-placing the corresponding optical fiber at a different angle. If the problem still cannot be solved, return to the manufacturer for repair.

Fault phenomenon: Press the "auto" button of the fiber fusion splicer, and the fiber stops moving when the gap is set. Press the reset button to reset the system normally, but the fiber still does not move.

Fault cause: ①Fiber breakage; ②The large pressure plate does not press the fiber.

Solution: Re-place the fiber, close the large pressure plate, and gently pull the fiber back by hand. If it can be easily pulled, it means that the large pressure plate cannot press the fiber. Check whether there is any large dirt between the large pressure plate and the fiber slot or whether the fiber slot is too deep.

Fault phenomenon: Press the "auto" button of the fiber fusion splicer, and when the gap is set. The fiber moves forward to a certain position and then moves forward again, and finally displays "reinstall fiber".

Fault cause: ①The fiber cutting length does not meet the requirements; ②There is an obstacle in the direction of movement of the large pressure plate.

Solution: The fiber cutting length is about 16MM, and it is remade if it does not meet the requirements. In the direction of the large pressure plate movement, gently push the large pressure plate by hand to check for obstacles, determine its position and deal with it.

Failure phenomenon: Press the automatic key of the fiber fusion machine. When setting the gap, the fiber moves backward, and finally displays "Reinstall fiber" or the fiber is pulled back and forth in the horizontal direction. Sometimes it can be connected.

Failure cause: ① There is dust on the microscope lens or lighting lamp; ② There are gray or dark spots on the microscope prism or there is a problem with the detection circuit.

Solution: Wipe the two microscope lenses (use clean cotton, it is best to wipe it several times) and the two lighting lamps. If the problem still cannot be solved, please return it to the manufacturer for repair.

Failure phenomenon: Press the "automatic" key of the fiber fusion machine. During the core adjustment process, one side of the fiber image moves in the vertical direction, and the fiber ends at both ends are not aligned and cannot be fused.

Cause of the fault: ① There is dust in the precision V-groove, which causes the position of the optical fiber on one side to be too high, which is greater than the Zda value of the up and down movement of the optical fiber on the other side; ② There are dust and dark spots on the microscope lens, lighting lamp and prism.

Solution: Use a sharpened toothpick dipped in alcohol to wipe along the V-groove in one direction, and do it several times. Then use the fiber head with the finished end face to align with the bottom of the V-groove and push forward to infer the smoothness of the V-groove. Wipe the two microscope lenses and two lighting lamps. If the problem still cannot be solved, please return it to the manufacturer for repair.

Fault phenomenon: In the automatic working mode of the fiber fusion machine, pressing the "auto" button can automatically set the gap and perform rough and fine calibration, but the naked eye can observe obvious misalignment on the monitoring screen. After the fusion is completed, the estimated loss is too large or the fusion fails.

Cause of the fault: ① The optical fiber is dirty, the end face is unqualified, and the fiber cleaver has problems; ② There are dust and dark spots on the microscope lens, two lighting lamps or prisms.

Solution: Adjust the cutting knife of the fiber fusion splicer and remake the fiber end face, requiring the end face to be qualified. Wipe the two microscope lenses and two lighting lamps. If the problem still cannot be solved, please return to the manufacturer for repair.

Failure phenomenon: The image position of the fiber end face gap is biased to one side of the screen.

Failure cause: ① The electrode is aging and there are many surface deposits; ② The electrode is deviated; ③ The lens is loose and deviates from the normal position.

Solution: First enter the fiber fusion splicer maintenance menu and clean the electrode several times. Turn on the machine after shutting down for a few minutes and do a discharge test more than three times. If the deviation is not very serious, it means that this situation does not affect the connection and does not need to be adjusted. In special cases, return to the manufacturer for repair.

Failure phenomenon: The gap is set and adjusted normally, but the electrode does not discharge during the fusion process.

Failure cause: ① The current parameter setting bit is 0 in the program menu or a program without setting parameters is selected; ② The high-voltage power supply is damaged or the electrode connection is detached.

Solution: Enter the program currently in use in the fiber fusion splicer menu, check whether the parameter settings are normal, change to normal fusion parameters, if it still cannot discharge, please return to the manufacturer for repair.

Fault phenomenon: After cleaning the V-groove of the fiber fusion splicer, the optical fiber often cannot be smoothly inserted into the groove, and the optical fiber image is very blurred.

Fault cause: ① Improper cleaning of the V-groove, leaving scratches in the V-groove, some of which are "W" shaped; ② The V-groove of the fiber carrier groove (some are positioning grooves) on the large pressure plate is not on a straight line or on a plane; ③ The small pressure head is crooked and cannot be centered on the V-groove table or the buffer sheet is sticky and damaged; ④ The small pressure head cannot press the optical fiber, and the most common is the pigtail.

Solution: Use a blade with a very blunt tip to gently scratch along the bottom of the V-groove several times. Open the large pressure plate, align the fiber carrier groove (including the positioning groove), and check whether the two grooves are in the same straight line and the same plane. If conditions permit, handle it, otherwise return to the manufacturer for repair. Close the large pressure plate and check whether the small pressure head can press the optical fiber. If it cannot, use tweezers to adjust the height of the connecting rod. Other situations that cannot be handled are returned to the manufacturer for repair.

Failure phenomenon: Press the "auto" key of the fiber fusion splicer, the gap setting and core adjustment are normal, but the fusion cannot be performed. The optical fibers on both sides are always burned into two balls.

Failure cause: ① Mistakenly use the "test" key as the fiber fusion function key; ② The fusion current is too large; ③ The push amount is too small or 0, and the push speed value is too large; ④ The large pressure plate is not compacted; ⑤ Both sides are tightly wrapped optical fibers (pigtails), the fiber itself is of poor quality, and the cladding is detached.

Solution: First confirm that there is no problem with the fiber to be connected, then enter the program menu, check the fiber fusion splicer parameter settings, and set the correct parameters. Then perform a discharge test until the current is moderate. Replay the optical fiber and press the auto key to check whether it can be connected normally, otherwise return to the manufacturer for repair.
